Hope Lions Home is the child-care unit of Hope Trust (Regd.), which is a non-profit making organization. The Home is open to all suffering children in India viz. those who are underprivileged for various reasons e.g. born out of wedlock, orphans, victims of poverty, children affected by social violence, and children of addicts.
Our vision is to give hope to under privileged children in order to build a community that will contribute better to the society and the nation.
Our mission is to inculcate a sense of acceptance, security and peace by giving love and parental care; to impart social, cultural, moral and spiritual values to give confidence and bring these children into the mainstream; to provide the best education and training to all these children so that they become self-sufficient, self-productive and capable of imparting values to others.
What we value most in our Home is compassion, spirituality, love and hope, support for each other, security for every individual and schooling for the haves and have not. The only way we can express such values to our children is by developing a family type bond with them. With this, trust and love, we are able to help them deal with their past traumas / problems and lead them towards facing the future with hope and confidence.
HLH provides free shelter, food, medical aid, clothing and education etc. to its residents from lower kindergarten until they can support themselves. At present, PUC/12 class and below are sent to Parikrma and St. Mary Schools. Both these schools are rich in sports, athletics, martial arts, etc. besides the excellent education provided. The Children are encouraged to take up professional courses such as Engineering, Law, Medical, and are given support from the Home provided they clear the particular exam/entrance test for the respective courses.
Though health care and education is the main emphasis in our Home, the children are also encouraged to performing on stage, mingling and interacting with people from all walks of life (viz. students, businessmen, professionals, foreign volunteers, etc.).
NUTRITION & HEALTH CARE:
As we believe providing good nutrition is vital for the growth and development of the children, balanced diet is planned and prepared keeping the children in mind. As rice is the staple diet of many of the children, they are mainly given rice, vegetables and pluses. Non-vegetarian food is also provided at least twice a week
